Black Marriage Day celebrated
The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History will join city halls, community centers and houses of worship in 300 cities across the U.S. in celebrating the 10th annual Black Marriage Day. Couples are invited to renew their vows, get information for strengthening their marriage, compete against other couples for prizes, and dine and dance during marriage-related events on Friday and Saturday. Black Marriage Day was launched in 2002 to encourage African-Americans to embrace marriage, which has been on the decline in their community in recent years.
